The rapper and producer now has an estimated date of March 2, 2028, after it had previously been expected that he would leave the correctional facility on January 21 of that year.

The change comes amid reports about the alleged privileged lifestyle he is said to have maintained at FCI Fort Dix, in New Jersey. According to reports cited by EURweb and other media outlets, Combs allegedly had access to meals specially prepared for him, massages, and devices that are not permitted inside the prison.

One of the elements that drew the most attention was the alleged use of a smuggled cell phone. NBC News reported that it obtained images that apparently showed Combs using a phone inside the penitentiary, where cell phones are prohibited. Prison authorities have not publicly confirmed that the device belonged to Combs or the details of any possible investigation.

Controversy also grew after other inmates described an alleged special dynamic surrounding the artist. Among the accusations are payments to other prisoners to perform tasks such as cleaning, preparing meals, and giving him massages. His representative rejected the image of a life outside the rules and stated that Combs continues serving his sentence while awaiting the resolution of his appeal.

The change is especially striking because during 2026 Combs’ release date had been reduced on several occasions. In July, for example, records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons indicated that his release was scheduled for January 24, 2028, after other adjustments that had shortened his initially projected time in custody.

Now, records cited by various media outlets once again place the date later, on March 2, 2028. That represents approximately six additional weeks compared with the date it had before the new change.

Combs is serving a 50-month federal sentence after being found guilty in 2025 on two counts related to transporting people for prostitution. The jury acquitted him of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

The situation inside the prison would also have caused Combs to be transferred to a special housing unit, known as solitary confinement, while possible violations were being examined. It would not be the first time he has remained separated from the general population during his stay in prison.

Thus, the man who arrived at Fort Dix expecting to complete his rehabilitation process there and get closer to his family now faces a new setback: reports about his alleged privileged lifestyle ended up coinciding with another change in the timeline of his release. His new estimated release date is March 2, 2028.
