Moselakgomo’s body was found along the R21 in September, after she was reported missing following an afternoon run in Kempton Park.

The latest development comes amid investigations into the murders of 12 women whose bodies were found in the Ekurhuleni within a similar timeframe.

Gauteng police have previously announced arrests in connection with separate cases as a multidisciplinary task team investigates the killings.

In a statement, the South African Police Service (SAPS) said the latest suspect was found in possession of an item belonging to Moselakgomo.

The suspect is expected to face a charge of possession of stolen property.

Police have stressed that no murder charge has been brought against the suspect at this stage, with investigations still underway.

The arrest does not yet confirm a breakthrough in Moselakgomo’s murder, as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
