CIMAF Cement Prices Drop Again As Bridget Otoo Announces New Rates

Ghanaian builders, property developers, and individuals planning construction projects have received encouraging news following an announcement that prices of selected CIMAF cement products have been reduced.

Bridget Otoo, a media personality and Presidential Staffer responsible for Government Communications, shared the revised prices in a social media post, citing figures released by the cement manufacturer.

According to the information she provided, a bag of CIMAF Foreman cement is now priced at GH¢72, while the 32.5-grade product costs GH¢74. The premium CIMAF 42.5R variety is listed at GH¢98.

Otoo explained that the updated prices had been announced, with retailers expected to reflect the changes in their shops nationwide by Friday. She encouraged consumers to exercise patience during the transition, noting that some sellers might require additional time to adjust their prices.

She also urged buyers to compare prices before making purchases, pointing out that reductions announced by manufacturers do not always translate immediately into lower retail costs. Recalling an earlier price adjustment, she said her business manager sold Ghacem 42.5 cement for GH¢110, while some other retailers continued charging as much as GH¢118.

At the time of her announcement, Otoo said she had not yet received an updated price list from Ghacem. She indicated that she would provide further information on Ghacem and other brands when their revised prices became available.

The announcement has attracted attention from consumers concerned about the cost of building materials. Cement prices remain an important consideration for households, contractors, and developers working to complete residential and commercial projects.

Although the reductions may provide some relief to buyers purchasing the affected CIMAF products, the final amount paid could depend on whether individual retailers implement the new prices as announced. Consumers have therefore been encouraged to verify prevailing prices with sellers before buying.
