Chelsea Are Ready To Change Their Stance Over Frenchman Malo Gusto
Chelsea could reconsider their asking price for Malo Gusto, potentially giving Paris Saint-Germain an opportunity to revive their interest in the French defender.
According to a report by Sky Sports on Monday, 12 October 2026, Chelsea’s stance on the 23-year-old may have softened after the club demanded around £75 million for his signature during the summer transfer window.
That valuation reportedly discouraged interested clubs, including PSG and Manchester City, from pursuing a deal. However, the Blues are now said to be prepared to listen to offers that better reflect Gusto’s current market value.
According to SkySport.ch, the Premier League club could be willing to negotiate rather than maintain the high asking price that previously made a transfer difficult.
PSG remain interested in strengthening their defensive options, with Gusto viewed as a potential addition capable of providing competition and cover for Achraf Hakimi.
The France international’s versatility is understood to be a major attraction. He can operate as a conventional right-back, play as a wing-back and provide cover in more central defensive positions when required.
Gusto’s ability to contribute in different roles could make him a useful option for the French champions as they look to improve their squad depth.
However, Chelsea would need to consider the implications of allowing the defender to leave. Gusto remains an important member of the squad and has featured regularly during the 2026/27 campaign.
The club’s official profile indicates that he has made six appearances in all competitions this season. His contract also runs until 2030, giving Chelsea significant control over his future.
His departure would be particularly significant given Reece James’ fitness concerns and the importance of maintaining reliable cover at right-back.
Although Chelsea’s reported willingness to reconsider their valuation could encourage PSG to make a fresh approach, a deal is far from guaranteed.
