‘Best day of the year’: S.F. Italian Heritage Parade attracts record participation

Thousands packed the streets of North Beach on Sunday for the 158th annual San Francisco Italian Heritage Parade, a celebration of the deep-rooted culture and legacy of Italian Americans in the city.Spectators lined the parade route from Fisherman’s Wharf to Washington Square Park, twirling small Italian flags as members of the military and law enforcement agencies, school marching bands and parade floats cruised down Columbus Avenue.
