“Atiku Is Not The First To Call Tinubu Bola, A Musician Also Called Him ‘A Boy’” – Olusola Sanni

“Atiku Is Not The First To Call Tinubu Bola, A Musician Also Called Him ‘A Boy’” – Olusola Sanni

According to a report by Channels Television on Monday October 12, 2026, Olusola Sanni, a strategic media associate to African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has defended the former vice president’s decision to address President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by his first name rather than his official title.

Sanni made the statement during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, where the programme’s anchor, Kelly, questioned why Atiku referred to the president as Bola instead of addressing him as President Tinubu.

Responding to the question, Sanni argued that Atiku was not the first person to refer to Tinubu by his name. He cited a musician from northern Nigeria who released a song in honour of the president and used the expression “Omo Ologo.”

“Atiku will not be the first to refer to him as Bola. There is a musician in some part of Northern Nigeria who created an album for him and called him Omo Ologo,” Sanni said.

He added, “Omo Ologo means ‘a boy’; the musician called him ‘a boy.’”

The musician Sanni was referring to is Dauda Kahutu Rarara, a popular Hausa singer known for producing songs in support of political figures. Rarara performed his Omo Ologo song in honour of Tinubu during an event in Katsina State on Friday, May 2, 2025, when the president visited the state.

Atiku’s associates have defended his choice of words, arguing that referring to the president by his name should not be the focus of political discussions.
