Asantewaa Reveals Why She Left Husband Jeffery To Have A Child With Another Man While Still Married
According to a report by Ghbase News on Monday October 12, 2026, Ghanaian social media personality Asantewaa has opened up about the reasons behind her separation from her husband, Jeffery, explaining that concerns about their genetic compatibility and the possibility of having children with sickle cell disease influenced her decision to walk away from the marriage.
Her revelation has reignited public discussions about her personal life, particularly following renewed attention surrounding her past relationship with AMG Armani and her recent comments in connection with the domestic violence (DV) controversy involving Nana Akua.
In a Snapchat post monitored by Ghbase News, Asantewaa explained that she discovered after marrying Jeffery that both of them were sickle cell carriers, a situation she said raised serious concerns about having children together.
According to her, the experience was particularly painful because she had lost three siblings due to complications associated with sickle cell disease.
She said she did not want to repeat what she described as her parents’ mistakes by knowingly bringing children into a situation that could expose them to the same condition.
Asantewaa maintained that neither she nor her former husband had necessarily wronged the other, insisting that her decision to leave was largely influenced by their carrier status and her concerns about their future children.
“So for my ex-husband he did me no wrong and I also didn’t I only decided to walk away because we are both SC carriers and he was still insisting we continue with the marriage,” she stated.
She further alleged that Jeffery continued to hope for a reconciliation even after their separation.
According to her, he did not involve his family in the separation because he wanted the marriage to continue, while allegedly giving them the impression that everything was still fine between the couple.
“For whatever reasons my ex-husband decided never to involve his family in our separation because he still wanted us to be together.
He kept telling his family lies that all was well between us for years. He kept holding me back,” she added.
Asantewaa also stressed that her separation from Jeffery happened long before AMG Armani entered her life, pushing back against suggestions that her relationship with the musician was the reason she left her marriage.
She explained that learning about Armani’s AA genotype presented what she considered an opportunity to have children without the same genetic risk she feared in her marriage.
“He tried all possible means to not let me go but I had to knowing how my 3 siblings ……. Because of SC. I just couldn’t fathom giving birth to SC knowingly. We were separated way before Armani came into the picture,” she said.
Her comments have added another dimension to the discussions surrounding her marriage, separation and subsequent relationship with AMG Armani.
The disclosure has also drawn attention to the importance of genotype testing and genetic counselling before couples have children.
When both parents carry the haemoglobin S gene, each pregnancy has a 25 per cent chance of resulting in a child with sickle cell disease, a 50 per cent chance of producing a carrier child and a 25 per cent chance of a child who does not carry the gene.
Asantewaa’s account has brought a deeply personal explanation into a public conversation that has largely centred on her relationships.
However, her statements represent her account of the circumstances surrounding the separation, and the details have not been independently verified.
