$611k Alleged Scandal Deepens As Tribe Culture Fest Says We Didn’t Take The Money – Kofi Nkansah
Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has waded into the controversy surrounding the alleged $611,000 payment to Tribe Culture Fest.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Ofosu Nkansah disclosed that the organizers of Tribe Culture Fest have denied receiving the said amount as alleged by the Minister of Sports.
According to him, this development vindicates the MP for Old Tafo, Hon. Vincent Ekow Assafuah, who has been demanding accountability over World Cup-related expenses.
He is therefore calling on both the Minister for Sports and Recreation and the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to step aside to allow for independent investigations.
Tribe Culture Fest denies taking the usd 611k as alleged by the Sports Minister. This is why the Minister and GTA boss must also step aside for investigations to be conducted. They keep on vindicating Hon. Vincent Assafuah, he wrote.
The controversy follows questions raised in Parliament over various expenditures related to Ghana’s participation in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, including payments for promotional activities and logistics.
Hon. Assafuah has been at the forefront of demanding value-for-money audits, questioning items such as the $10,000 per diem for the purse holder, and the doubling of allowances for caterers and security personnel.
