The heaviest rains fell on areas to the east of Asheville, where as much as 7 to 8" were tallied by daybreak Sunday.
Flash flood warnings were issued overnight Saturday for several counties in WNC.
The Rocky Broad River experienced moderate flooding in the Bat Cave and Chimney Rock areas.
This caused Rutherford County Emergency Management to sound the flood sirens multiple times to warn people of the life-threatening flooding.
Road closures included parts of Highway 9 & Highway 64/74 around Bat Cave.
Multiple landslides were confirmed in McDowell County, affecting areas around the communities of Crooked Creek and Little Switzerland.
