Thousands across Southwest Virginia waking up without power Sunday
(WDBJ) – The fall-off from Hurricane Isaias is bringing storms to Southwest Virginia Sunday morning, leaving thousands across the area without power.
As of 6:00 a.m., Appalachian Power is currently reporting the highest number of outages in eastern portions of the city of Roanoke in neighborhoods off of Highway 460.
Over 1,500 people have no power in that area.
Additionally, 700 people in Bedford County near Montvale – as well as near Windy Gap Elementary in Franklin County – are seeing their power out this morning.
ApCo is estimating outages from last night will be fixed by this afternoon, but thereβs no timetable for completion on any weather-related power failures overnight.
WDBJ7 has issued a First Alert Weather Day due to potential for tornadoes from these storms.
