ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the missile attack allegedly carried out by Houthi rebels on King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

The prime minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the attack and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.

In his condolence and policy statement, PM Shehbaz said targeting innocent civilians and vital defence or commercial infrastructure was completely unacceptable and posed a serious threat to peace and stability across the region.

He stressed that such acts of violence constituted a clear violation of international law and called for an immediate end to these attacks.

The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Saudi leadership and the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia, saying that Pakistan stood firmly alongside the kingdom during this difficult time.

He further reiterated that Pakistan remained fully committed to the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the Islamabad–Mecca joint defence agreement.
