Police said the vehicles went through a construction zone early Saturday and hit unfinished pavement. Investigators believe alcohol was a factor.
Three people were hurt after a scooter and an SUV crashed through the same construction zone at 78th and Blondo in northwest Omaha, Omaha Police said.
Police said the scooter went through cones and hit an unfinished section of pavement. A short time later, an SUV traveling the same direction crashed in the same place.
“Investigation is indicating that we actually have two separate crashes,” Sgt. Josh Malek said.
The scooter rider was taken to Bergan Mercy Medical Center with minor injuries.
Police said the SUV driver left the scene. A helicopter searched the area, but officers did not find the driver.
Two women in the SUV were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in both crashes.
