Hayes is accused of stealing a motor vehicle from another person that had a value in excess of $3,000, the Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies later located the vehicle in the village of South Glens Falls, stopped it and found Hayes operating it, according to the sheriff's office.

Hayes was arraigned before Judge Michael T. Woodcock in Corinth Town Court and released to pretrial services pending further proceedings. The Sheriff’s Office said the charge is not considered bail-eligible under New York state law.
