Marcia Marcia Marcia is married, married, married!

The RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 fan favorite and Broadway star, whose real name is Marty Lauter, tied the knot with longtime love Kyle Samuel on Sunday, Oct. 4, in a romantic wedding on Long Island, New York.

Lauter, 29, and Samuel, 30, exchanged vows they had written themselves before saying “I do” in front of 95 guests at Lauter’s parents’ home, celebrating their nine-year romance surrounded by family, friends and fellow performers, including Drag Race stars Luxx Noir London and Jan Sport.

The newlyweds are sharing all the details of their special day exclusively with PEOPLE, along with intimate wedding photos captured by photographer Cailin Curtis.

“We really wanted everything to feel authentic to us, so we did all the planning ourselves!” the newlyweds gush. “We really called on our village to help bring the day together.”

The result was what the couple describe as an “elevated backyard wedding,” blending vintage-inspired fashion, personal touches and plenty of Broadway magic in a setting that held special meaning for Lauter.

“Marty’s parents have a beautiful, lush backyard,” the couple explain. “It’s a space that meant so much to them growing up, we wanted to share that with our chosen family too.”

The location was also convenient for their many New York City-based friends, who made the trip to Long Island for the Sunday evening celebration following an intimate family rehearsal dinner the night before.

It was a perfect weekend, all around — though on the wedding day, Mother Nature provided an unexpected twist to the outdoor proceeding. “The rain was a stressful point,” they admit, revealing that they had been “obsessively checking the weather every morning for two weeks” leading up to the wedding.

Despite the nearly constant drizzle, their guests embraced the unexpected weather. “Everyone said it added a charm, and made it more memorable,” the couple say.

Fortunately, the forecast didn’t dampen anyone’s sense of style.

Lauter, who has a passion for vintage fashion, encouraged guests to embrace a dress code inspired by the 1950s through the 1970s, creating a Pinterest board to help guide their looks. “My personal aesthetic is very granny-chic,” they tell PEOPLE. “I had multiple people come up to me saying they had never seen so many well-dressed people in one place.”

That style, of course, included both grooms. The two turned to Tanner Fletcher for their wedding-day looks, having fallen in love with the designers’ Spring/Summer 2026 Wedding & Bridal collection after attending its debut presentation at St. Bartholomew’s Church in New York City. The label had been on Lauter’s radar since 2023, making the decision an easy one. “They were our first, and only stop,” the couple say.

For the ceremony, Samuel wore the ivory Walt Crystal Embellished Suit, while Lauter selected the black Norman Bow Train Suit, both crafted from silk wool.

And one outfit simply wasn’t enough. The newlyweds each wore three ensembles throughout the celebration: a more casual look for greeting guests and cocktail hour, their Tanner Fletcher suits for the ceremony and contrasting party looks for the reception. All six outfits followed a black-and-ivory color palette.

The couple’s wedding bands were another nod to their love of fashion. From Tiffany & Co., the simple gold rings feature a slight pinch that creates a streamlined bow shape, a fitting detail for two people who say they “love a bow.”

Their engagement rings were equally personal, designed by the couple and made by Samuel’s family friend Vaskin Cholakian in Michigan.

Lauter’s gold spiral-twist ring features a pearl in place of a traditional diamond, while Samuel’s gold band is adorned with a cluster of smaller diamonds.

“Marty actually saw theirs in a dream,” the couple reveal, while Samuel’s design was inspired by a ring he spotted in a thrift shop.

The vintage-inspired aesthetic extended beyond the fashion, with natural shades of green, wood, blue and pops of yellow throughout the backyard.

Close friends Noah Hartwell and Cayel Tregeagle, a married couple whom the newlyweds admire, created the floral arrangements and also served as the ceremony’s two officiants. “They’re some of our closest friends, and such a positive example of a queer married couple,” Lauter and Samuel say.

When it came time to exchange vows, the pair put their own spin on several wedding traditions, like having both sets of their parents accompanied them down the aisle.

“Weddings can truly be anything, and we wanted to take advantage of that,” the couple explain.

One tradition they weren’t willing to skip? Having their beloved dog Poppy serve as ring bearer. “She honestly stole the show,” Lauter and Samuel tease.

Music was another important part of the ceremony, particularly given the couple’s shared history in musical theater.

Lauter — who made their Broadway debut as Victor in the 2024 revival of Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club and later took over the lead role of the Emcee in that same production — and Samuel, who had a long history of stage roles under his belt before transitioning into a career as a registered nurse, both performed together in the national tour of Hello, Dolly!. So it was only fitting that they walked down the aisle to an orchestral rendition of “It Only Takes a Moment” from the beloved Jerry Herman musical, recorded in 1965 by The Melachrino Strings and Orchestra.

When it came to the reception, Lauter and Samuel decided to flip the traditional wedding timeline on its head.

Instead of waiting until after the vows to serve dinner, guests arrived for cocktail hour and a buffet-style meal before the ceremony even began. “We wanted our guests to be full, and a little tipsy for the ceremony so everyone would cry (hehe),” the couple joke. “That way directly after the ceremony we could all hit the ground running on partying.”

Dinner was catered by Gino’s Pizzeria, Lauter’s favorite Italian restaurant growing up. “It was very important to Marty that pizza be readily available,” the newlyweds say, with a laugh.

Guests dined at round tables dressed in ivory-and-jade-green floral toile linens, with green glass votives and lush centerpieces arranged in unique thrifted vases and pitchers the couple had collected together. Attendees were even invited to take the vessels home at the end of the night.

For dessert, Samuel’s friend Samantha made a small Funfetti wedding cake with pastel-colored vanilla frosting, while Krispy Kreme doughnuts served as the main sweet treat.

The evening’s soundtrack was courtesy of their friend Mack Mackey, a DJ at several New York City gay bars, who created a prerecorded set so she could enjoy the party alongside everyone else.

And although the guest list included plenty of professional entertainers, there were no elaborate performances planned. “Because most of our friends are performers, we chose to let everyone have the night off,” the couple explain.

The newlyweds did, however, take center stage for one special moment: their first dance to “Leather and Lace” by Fleetwood Mac.

Lauter and Samuel first met in the summer of 2017 while performing in a production of Newsies at the Fulton Theatre in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Seven years later, Lauter surprised Samuel with a proposal outside his workplace, as Samuel’s coworkers watched the romantic moment unfold through the window.

Now, nine years after their first meeting and roughly six years after moving in together, the couple say their relationship is built on the ways they balance one another. “Marty brings a lot of silliness into my life, and reminds me not to take things too seriously,” Samuel says.

Lauter, meanwhile, praises their husband’s steady presence. “Kyle keeps me grounded, and is the most supportive partner I could ask for,” they say. (Beyond Drag Race and the stage, Lauter has built a career on film, most recently starring in the comedy Stop! That! Train! and joining the cast of All’s Fair for its upcoming second season).

After nearly a decade together, the pair see marriage as a continuation of the partnership they’ve already built. “It means having someone to ask how your day was, to celebrate your wins, and to hold you during your lows,” they tell PEOPLE.

As for what comes next, the newlyweds aren’t rushing off on a traditional honeymoon just yet. Instead, they’re spending a few weeks enjoying what they’ve affectionately dubbed their “homeymoon,” relaxing at home, taking day trips and simply spending time together.

Eventually, they hope to travel more, explore new experiences and purchase a home of their own. “We desperately want to buy property so we can make it as adorable as our wedding was,” they share.

And after nearly a decade together, the pair aren’t expecting married life to change too much.

“We’ve been living together for about 6 years now,” they say, “so hopefully more of the same :)”
