A fundraising campaign has reportedly raised R2,700 towards the funeral expenses of Ashley Saville, from Ward 76 in Lentegeur East, near Leeubekkie, as her grieving family seeks financial assistance to give her a dignified farewell.

Ashley was reportedly found unresponsive in her bedroom following allegations that she had endured cyberbullying after a private video of her was allegedly circulated without her consent. The circumstances surrounding her death have left her family and community devastated.

According to reports, Ashley had allegedly experienced online harassment for some time. Her father was reportedly unaware of the extent of her struggles until her sister returned from school at approximately 3 pm and asked about her. Her father subsequently went to check on her and found her unresponsive. Attempts to revive her were unsuccessful.

Having lost her mother years earlier, Ashley’s death has compounded the family’s grief.

Her father and sister have appealed to the public for assistance with funeral costs estimated at between R9,000 and R9,500. With approximately R2,700 reportedly raised so far, further contributions are needed.

The family has also urged social media users to stop circulating hurtful details and respect Ashley’s dignity during this difficult period.
