Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Türkiye term attack as violation of international law

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Türkiye have strongly condemned Houthi militia attacks on Saudi Arabia, including the strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which reportedly killed 12 people and injured more than 300.

In a joint statement issued by the Foreign Office, the four countries, known as the R4 Group, described the attacks as a blatant violation of international law and Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The statement said the attacks posed a direct threat to Saudi Arabia’s security, stability and the safety of civilians. It added that such attacks could not be justified or accepted under any circumstances.

The four countries reaffirmed their solidarity with and support for Saudi Arabia. They held the Houthi militia responsible for the attacks and any resulting damage, and called on the group to stop its attacks immediately and unconditionally.

According to Saudi Civil Defence, those killed in the airport attack included four Saudi nationals and two Bangladeshi nationals. One citizen each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan was also reported among the dead.

The R4 Group comprises Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan and Türkiye.
