Police Arrest Female Student and Boyfriend After Nighttime Sighting Outside School

Two people, including a female student of Ofoase Kokoben Senior High School, were arrested by police officers in the early hours of Sunday after they were reportedly seen outside the school premises at an unusual hour of the night.

According to information gathered, the officers on patrol spotted the student and her boyfriend, said to be a young man from a nearby community, walking along a path close to the school fence around 1:00 a.m. The pair were said to have been standing and talking when the patrol team approached them. Sensing trouble, the two attempted to walk away, but the officers quickly moved in and stopped them.

The student, whose name has not been released, is said to be a form two student of the school. Her boyfriend, whose identity is also being withheld, was reportedly visiting her from outside the school. It is not clear how he gained access to the area or how long the two had been together before the officers arrived.

Witnesses say the officers questioned the pair at the scene before taking them to the local police station. The school authorities were later informed of the incident. A staff member who spoke on condition of anonymity said the school had strict rules against students leaving their dormitories at night, adding that the matter would be handled in line with school regulations.

The police have confirmed the arrest but gave few details. A senior officer said investigations were ongoing and that the two would be released once the necessary statements were taken. He added that the student would be handed over to the school authorities for disciplinary action while the young man would face questioning over why he was near the school at that hour.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions in the community. Some residents praised the officers for their vigilance, while others questioned whether the arrest was necessary. The school is expected to issue a statement on the matter soon.
