PM Shehbaz Sharif criticises KP govt over response to terrorism
Add ARY News on GoogleFollow on Google DiscoverYouTube screenshotAAResizeISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has accused the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government of failing to speak out against terrorist groups, saying that civilians and security forces continue to be targeted in terrorist attacks.
āThe water has crossed the limit; it is now time to make a decision,ā the prime minister said while addressing a federal cabinet meeting.
Shehbaz Sharif said civilians had been targeted in terrorist attacks for the past two years, while Pakistanās armed forces were pursuing militants around the clock and eliminating them.
He alleged that instead of taking effective action to dismantle terrorist networks, the KP government had remained a silent spectator.
The prime minister further claimed that the federal government had provided Rs800 billion to the KP government over the past 10 years for the fight against terrorism, but the provincial government had failed to strengthen the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).
He said the KP government had not only failed to work with the federal government to combat terrorism but had also refrained from speaking out against terrorist groups.
Referring to Afghanistan, Shehbaz Sharif said repeated attempts had been made to convey Pakistanās concerns, but the message had not been heeded.

The prime minister also alleged that a plan had been made to march on Islamabad with hostile intentions. He claimed that the group involved wanted to bring Pakistan back to the brink of destruction.
He asserted that the government would not allow these efforts to succeed and that the law would be enforced under all circumstances.
