Please Tell Putin, Give Us 2 Months, 60 Days Of Ceasefire; We Will Organise Election– Zelenskyy

According to a report by Sky News on Sunday October 11, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he is prepared to organise elections in Ukraine if Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees to a 60-day ceasefire.

In a new interview with ABC, Zelenskyy called on Putin to allow a two-month suspension of hostilities, arguing that such an arrangement would provide the necessary conditions for Ukraine to conduct elections.

“Please tell Putin, give us two months, 60 days of total ceasefire, 60 days, and we will organise elections,” he told ABC.

The Ukrainian president’s statement reiterates his earlier position that holding elections during the ongoing war would require a significant pause in fighting. He previously outlined a similar proposal in February during an interview with Axios, where he maintained that a 60-day ceasefire would be necessary to organise the electoral process.

Zelenskyy’s latest remarks place renewed emphasis on the connection between security conditions and Ukraine’s ability to conduct elections while the conflict with Russia continues.

His proposal suggests that a temporary halt to hostilities would give Ukrainian authorities an opportunity to make the necessary arrangements for voting without the immediate threat of continued attacks.

However, the proposal depends on Russia agreeing to suspend military operations for the specified period. Zelenskyy’s comments do not indicate that an agreement has been reached between the two countries to implement such a ceasefire.

The issue of elections has remained significant as Ukraine continues to face the consequences of Russia’s invasion. Organising a nationwide vote during wartime presents substantial security and logistical challenges, particularly in areas affected by fighting.

By repeating his call for a 60-day truce, Zelenskyy has made clear that he considers a temporary cessation of hostilities essential to moving forward with elections.
