Naqvi sets Dec 31 deadline for Margalla Road extension, Sangjani Interchange projects

ISLAMABAD  –  Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry visited the Margalla Road extension to the Motorway and Sangjani Interchange projects to review construction work and direct officials to complete both projects by December 31. During the visit, Mohsin Naqvi reviewed the progress of the ongoing development work and instructed the concerned authorities to speed up construction and continue working in double shifts. The interior minister said the completion of the projects would provide Islamabad residents with an alternative route to access the Motorway, improving connectivity for commuters. He directed the authorities to ensure that work on both projects was completed by December 31 under all circumstances. He also instructed the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad to remove all encroachments within one week. Mohsin Naqvi said all obstacles delaying the completion of the projects must be removed immediately. He directed the relevant departments to maintain the pace of work and take the necessary steps to meet the deadline. During the visit, Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials briefed the interior minister on the progress of the projects and their key components. According to the briefing, the Margalla Road-to-Sangjani Interchange project has a total length of 2.7 kilometres. The project includes one underpass and one interchange. The authorities reviewed the development work being carried out at both sites and discussed measures to ensure timely completion.

CDA Chairman, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and other relevant officials were also present during the visit.

The interior minister reiterated the need to remove all hurdles affecting construction and directed the concerned authorities to complete the projects within the stipulated timeframe.
