MRS, Other Nigerian Filling Stations Raise Petrol Prices

Petrol pump prices have once again surged across Nigeria, with MRS and other filling stations implementing fresh increases. Backed by the Dangote Refinery, MRS outlets in Abuja and surrounding areas adjusted their retail price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from ₦1,370 to ₦1,409 per litre, marking a ₦39 hike over the weekend.

According to a report by Daily Post on Sunday, October 11, 2026, the new price is now in effect at MRS stations in Kubwa, Katampe, Gwarimpa, and other parts of the capital.

Similarly, Ranoil and AA Rano filling stations raised their pump prices by ₦10 per litre, moving from ₦1,400 to ₦1,410. This development comes amid government efforts to cushion the impact of rising fuel costs.

The Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, recently announced a proposed discount initiative that would see petrol sold at ₦1,350 per litre at Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) outlets.

Fuel marketers, however, have urged the Federal Government to extend this discount scheme to independent and private filling stations to ensure broader relief for consumers.

The latest increases follow a brief period of declining petrol prices last week. Meanwhile, global oil benchmarks remain elevated, with Brent crude trading at $104 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) at $91.
