Kojo Cho Sends Heartfelt Message to All Ghanaians After Church Services Today From South Korea
Ghanaās Ambassador to South Korea, Kojo Cho, has sent a heartfelt message to Ghanaians as he marks his first year of service in the Asian country. He expressed gratitude for the progress made in strengthening relations between Ghana and South Korea while outlining his plans for his second year in office.
In a post on his official Facebook page on Sunday, October 11, 2026, Kojo Cho reflected on his first year as Ghanaās representative in South Korea. He described the period as a busy but rewarding journey focused on serving Ghana and creating opportunities for its citizens.
According to the Ambassador, President John Dramani Mahamaās state visit to South Korea helped advance important issues that had remained unresolved for more than a decade. He also highlighted progress in diplomatic cooperation, including a visa-waiver arrangement for Ghanaian diplomatic and service passport holders.
Kojo Cho further revealed that discussions were ongoing with South Korean labour, justice and immigration authorities to explore opportunities for Ghanaian workers to access the Korean labour market.
He also highlighted the Ghana-Korea Climate Change Agreement, which he said would create opportunities for projects, technology and investment after the ratification process is completed.
The Ambassador noted that Ghana had gained greater recognition in diplomatic circles, including through its participation in Korea-Africa meetings and South Koreaās support for Ghanaās resolution at the United Nations on the historical injustice of slavery and the transatlantic slave trade.
Beyond diplomatic achievements, Kojo Cho expressed excitement about efforts to strengthen the Ghanaian community in South Korea. He mentioned the return of Ghanaās National Day celebration after almost eight years, the first Joint Worship and Thanksgiving Service, and the revival of the Ambassadorās Town Hall Meeting.
He also recounted an emotional moment during the 30th anniversary celebration of GHANASKO in Paju, where he saw Miss Vida dancing Adowa with tears in her eyes.
According to him, the moment reminded him of the importance of making Ghanaians proud and ensuring that citizens living abroad feel valued by their country.
As he begins his second year, Kojo Cho says his focus will be on achieving more tangible results, including increased investment, job opportunities, trade, educational exchanges and stronger cooperation between Ghana and South Korea.
He concluded by thanking President Mahama, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, his colleagues at the Ghanaian Embassy, the Ghanaian community in South Korea and their Korean partners for their support.
The Ambassador reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Ghanaās interests and creating opportunities for the country and its people.
