“I Will Not Tolerate This Nonsense,” Fred Matiang’i Warns Hecklers while at Bishop Wanjiru’s Church

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has issued a stern warning to people who heckled during a church service at Bishop Margaret Wanjiru’s church in Nairobi on Sunday.

Matiang’i, who has been accompanied by several leaders allied to his presidential ambitions, has maintained his tough-talking stance while addressing the crowd during the service.

The former CS has condemned the disruption of church activities, describing such behaviour as nonsense that he will not tolerate if elected president of Kenya.

His remarks have attracted cheers from the congregation as he has continued to address the issue of political heckling in places of worship.

Matiang’i has accused some Nairobi politicians of supporting individuals who disrupt events, claiming that they have nothing meaningful to do and have resorted to heckling other leaders.

He has insisted that Kenya is a democratic country where everyone has the right to organize and attend events without unnecessary interference.

However, he has maintained that disrupting a church service is unethical and should not be encouraged, regardless of political differences.

The former Interior CS has also addressed Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, urging her not to turn back after agreeing to support his presidential candidature.

Matiang’i has encouraged the bishop to remain committed to the political journey while praying for other opposition leaders who have been working towards challenging President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

Among the leaders he has mentioned are former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua and DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa.

His remarks have highlighted his call for unity among opposition leaders as political activities ahead of the next general election continue to gain momentum.

Matiang’i’s appearance at the church service has also provided another opportunity for him to demonstrate his leadership style, which has often been associated with firm and direct communication.

The former CS has continued to position himself as a potential presidential contender, with his engagements alongside opposition figures expected to attract further political attention.
