“He Had Eight Years but Couldn’t Finish Krofrom Market or Afari Hospital” – Critic Slams Akufo-Addo’

A critic has launched a strong attack on former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over the unfinished Krofrom Market and Afari Military Hospital projects, questioning why some residents of the Ashanti Region continue to defend his administration despite the delays.

In a strongly worded statement, the speaker said some people from the Ashanti Region had contacted him over his criticism of the former president, but maintained that his concerns were centred on the delivery of development projects that directly affect residents.

The speaker specifically cited the Krofrom Market in Kumasi, arguing that the project had reportedly reached about 80 per cent completion under former President John Agyekum Kufuor but was not completed during Akufo-Addo’s eight years in office.

“Ashantis are calling me; na Doc you’re attacking Nana Addo. He didn’t finish the Krofrom market 80% finished by Kufuor,” the speaker stated.

He questioned why residents would defend the former president when, in his view, important infrastructure projects remained unfinished despite the length of time his administration had to complete them.

The speaker also raised concerns about the Afari Military Hospital, another major project in the Ashanti Region that experienced delays during the previous administration.

According to him, the hospital could have provided important healthcare services to residents and helped families access medical treatment closer to home.

“He couldn’t finish Afari Hospital, which could be treating your relatives, and you are defending him,” he argued.

The remarks reflect continuing political debate over the performance of the Akufo-Addo administration, particularly regarding infrastructure projects initiated or continued during his tenure.

Both the Krofrom Market and Afari Military Hospital have featured in discussions about delayed public projects and the need for successive governments to ensure that major investments deliver their intended benefits.

The speaker’s comments also highlight tensions surrounding political loyalty, with the argument that citizens should assess leaders based on their development records rather than party affiliation or regional identity.

However, the specific claim that the Krofrom Market was 80 per cent complete under Kufuor would require independent verification, including project records, to establish the precise level of completion at the time.

The criticism adds to the broader debate about accountability, infrastructure delivery and the expectations of residents in the Ashanti Region.
