Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has declared his intention to run for Nairobi governor in the 2027 General Election.
Mosoria has vowed to transform the city if elected. He made the announcement on Sunday during a worship service at Jesus Is Alive Ministries Church, hosted by Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.
He cited his experience working in different departments within the Nairobi County Government, saying his work in health, environment and customer service had prepared him for the county’s top seat.
“I have done a lot of work in Nairobi. I have worked in health, where I ensured that we have the first ICU and medication in Nairobi that is working until today,” Mosiria said.
He said he was later moved to the environment department, where he worked to improve cleanliness in the city, before being transferred to customer service.
Mosiria said his current role had allowed him to intervene in the lives of vulnerable women and children, adding that he had taken up their concerns and worked to improve their welfare.
He argued that his responsibilities and track record demonstrated his ability to lead the county, saying he would do more if elected governor.
“The women in Nairobi declared that I am their leader because I love and have rescued them. I work 24/7 to ensure that everything is in order. Nairobi residents have told me that I hold a small office but I am doing work that equates to that of the governor. When given the governor seat, I will transform the city,” he said.
Mosiria also urged aspiring political leaders to campaign on their agendas rather than use violence or intimidation to gain support.
He expressed confidence in his bid, saying he would return to the church for a thanksgiving service after the election if successful.
“To everyone who wants leadership positions, go ahead and sell your agenda to Kenyans, don’t work with goons. Next year, I will come back here a day like this for thanksgiving for electing me,” he said.
Mosiria also voiced support for former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, describing him as a leader chosen by God and citing his service in the education and interior dockets.
“If you want change in Nairobi, Mosiria is the change, I will fix this city. In front of you is Mr Fix It,” he said.
In November 2025, Mosiria was moved to be in charge of Citizen Engagement and Customer Service in the changes contained in a circular dated November 18, 2025, signed by Governor Sakaja.
The former Environment boss had been vocal on matters touching his docket, conducting raids and operations to crack down on entities and individuals violating the law, while recording such episodes on his social media pages, such as TikTok.
“In accordance with Section 45(5) of the County Government Act 2012, the following County Chief Officers have been re-assigned. The changes take effect immediately,” Sakaja said the memo referenced as changes in the county executive.
