Eko Hotel: “They Pay Their Taxes On Due And Remit Their Dividends On Due” — Babajide Sanwo-Olu

According to a report by Channel TV on Sunday October 11, 2027, the Lagos State governor has praised Eko Hotels and Suites for its business practices and contributions to the state’s economy as the hospitality company celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Speaking at the hotel’s gala and awards night, the Lagos State governor lauded Eko Hotels as well as a host of other businesses for being responsible corporate entities, particularly when it comes to paying taxes and paying dividends.

“They pay their taxes on due and they remit their dividends on due,” Lagos State governor said.

The governor described Eko Hotels as an institution that has been folded into Lagos State’s story, saying it had come of age after half a century in the Nigerian hospitality sector.

Eco Hotels’ 50th anniversary celebration drew politicians, industry experts, business people, entertainers and other famous personalities as it paid tribute to the hotel and its customers’ support over the years.

In his welcome address, the hotel’s managing director expressed gratitude to customers and partners who have helped sustain the business over the past 50 years.

“It has traversed years of tremendous growth and transformation and we are most pleased to have been part of this journey,” he said, adding that the management were excited by the opportunities ahead.

The event also saw the presentation of awards in the areas of entertainment, business innovation, icon awards, partner and excellence awards.

Local and international music performances at the event, which included Haitian-born artiste Wyclef Jean, who declared himself “There’s no place like Nigeria,” added to the excitement.

Eko Hotels and Suites started life in 1977 as Eko Holiday. The 50th anniversary celebration was a chance to mark the company’s history and its ambitions to continue to be a global force, but retain its African values.
