Educational institutions to remain closed on Monday amid security concerns

The meeting reviewed the overall security situation and received a detailed briefing on security arrangements.

It was decided that all educational institutions would remain closed on Monday in view of the security situation. The meeting also decided that containers placed across Peshawar would be removed in phases as soon as possible.

Internet services will be partially restored as required, according to the decisions taken at the meeting.

The meeting also decided to increase the police martyrs’ package and review police salaries. Special attention will be given to the education and training of the families of police personnel who lost their lives.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi appreciated the role of the administration and police. He said it was encouraging that no untoward incident had occurred under the prevailing circumstances.

He said eliminating terrorism remained the top priority and that the capacity of the police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) would be further improved.

Separately, the deputy commissioner announced that all public and private educational institutions in Dera Ismail Khan would remain closed on Monday. All examinations scheduled for October 12 have also been cancelled.

In Peshawar, a notification issued by the deputy commissioner confirmed that all government and private schools, colleges and universities would remain closed on October 12.
