Dangote Refinery Increases Diesel Price By N100 Per Litre Days After Reduction
According to a report by Daily Post on Sunday, October 11, 2026, Dangote Refinery has increased the price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), popularly known as diesel, at its gantry, just days after reducing the cost of the product.
A market survey conducted by DAILY POST on Saturday revealed that the refinery raised its diesel price to N1,800 per litre from the previous rate of N1,700 per litre.
The latest adjustment represents an increase of N100 per litre, reversing the recent price reduction announced by the refinery.
Despite the increase, Dangote Refinery continues to sell diesel at a lower rate than several depot owners across the country.
According to the market survey, depot operators, including Pivot, African Terminal, Integrated and other suppliers, were selling diesel at N1,905 per litre as of the time of filing this report.
This means that diesel purchased directly from Dangote Refinery remains N105 cheaper per litre than the product sold by the depot owners.
The price difference could provide some relief to bulk buyers and businesses that depend heavily on diesel to power their operations, despite the latest upward adjustment.
However, the increase could also affect the cost of purchasing diesel from other suppliers, particularly if depot owners adjust their prices in response to the refinery’s new rate.
DAILY POST reported that the latest development comes amid fluctuations in the prices of petroleum products across the Nigerian market.
The increase in the gantry price has also raised concerns about the possible impact on retail diesel prices in Abuja and its surrounding areas.
According to the report, diesel was selling at between N1,960 and N1,980 per litre in Abuja and its environs before the latest adjustment.
The new price announced by Dangote Refinery could push retail prices beyond the existing range, depending on how marketers respond to the increase in the refinery’s gantry price.
The development highlights the continuing changes in diesel prices, with consumers and businesses likely to monitor subsequent adjustments by the refinery and other petroleum product suppliers.
