Cyberleek GTA 6 threat promises full story release over physical disc dispute

Add ARY News on GoogleFollow on Google DiscoverImage: Rockstar GamesAAResizeA well-known Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) leaker named Cyberleek is threatening to release the full story mode of the highly anticipated game if their personal cryptocurrency memecoin reaches a $30 million market cap. The leaker says this would involve sharing the entire game played through to the end credits.

The warning appeared recently on the leaker’s official website. Besides the cryptocurrency demand, Cyberleek also wants Take-Two Interactive to promise a physical disc version of the game and issue a public apology to stop the leaks. It is still not clear if the hacker plans to release a playable version or just a full video playthrough.

Many fans and cybersecurity experts think the demand for a physical version is just a cover for a cryptocurrency scam. The Cyberleek memecoin’s market cap is now around $3.8 million, after briefly reaching $5.7 million when the threat spread on social media. Blockchain analysis from late August shows the hacker has already taken out about $270,000 from the scheme.

The website also lists lower financial targets for releasing more gameplay footage. The leaker has promised to share clips of the co-protagonist, Lucia, in revealing scenes if the memecoin hits $2 million and $4 million. There is also a live poll where fans can use the cryptocurrency to vote on what should be leaked next.

After going silent in August, which led Take-Two to launch a federal investigation and send subpoenas to Discord, the hacker returned this week. They released a 24-minute gameplay video showing important story moments, a new first-person camera mode, and nude scenes with the main characters Jason and Lucia.

In an earlier clip, the word “LEEK” was shot into an in-game wall, suggesting the hacker has access to a full developer build.

It is still not known how this confidential material was taken from Rockstar’s secure development environment. Rockstar has called the leaks “heartbreaking” for its team, but the studio still plans to launch the game on November 19. Players who want to avoid spoilers should stay off social media as the release date approaches.
