Crystal Palace 3-1 Nottingham Forest: Report, result and goals as Glasner endures unhappy return to former club
/ Football News / Premier League News Crystal Palace 3-1 Nottingham Forest: Report, result and goals as Glasner endures unhappy return to former club It was the Austrian’s first return to his former club since departing in the summer.
Nottingham Forest manager Oliver Glasner endured a miserable first return to Selhurst Park as his side were beaten 3-1 by Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Dan Ndoye gave the visitors an early lead and dominated for much of the first half. However, goals from Daichi Kamada and Jefferson Lerma before the break flipped the tie on its head.
Yeremy Pino then added a third shortly before the hour mark to ensure an unhappy reunion for Glasner, who led Palace to their first major trophies when the club lifted the FA Cup in 2025 and the Conference League a year later.
The result sees Palace leapfrog Forest into 12th, while the Midlanders fall to 14th having won just one of their opening six league matches this terrm.

For the first 40 minutes or so, it was a welcome return for Glasner. Ndoye pounced on an early error from Anan Khalaili before bending a fine finish past Walter Benitez.
From there, it was one-way traffic. Liam Delap should have doubled the lead when he somehow blasted a close-range volley straight at Benitez with the whole of the goal gaping after Morgan Gibbs-White’s strike came back off the bar.
Delap wasted another good chance moments later, diverting a back-post header the wrong side of the post.
As is so often the case, the squandered opportunities would prove costly. Five minutes before the break, Kamada prodded home to level completely against the run of play.
Then, following a fine stop from Matz Sels to keep out a fierce Tyrick Mitchell drive, Adam Wharton’s resulting corner was bundled in by Lerma to give the hosts the momentum – and, crucially, the lead – going into the break.
Palace’s impressive comeback was made all the sweeter after the restart when Pino increased the advantage on 59 minutes, rifling home after Jorgen Strand Larsen’s effort was initially saved by Sels.
The roles were reversed soon after, when Wharton’s raking pass found the head of Pino. The Spaniard nodded across to Strand Larsen but the striker was again denied by Sels.

At the other end, Benitez was called into action, again saving from point blank range, this time from substitute Chris Wood.
It proved to be the last real action of a contest in which the momentum swung wildly, but in the end it was the hosts who emerged with a vital three points.
