Barcelona Join Manchester United In Race To Sign Fulham Midfielder
Barcelona and Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Fulham midfielder Josh King following his impressive performances despite his club’s difficult start to the 2026-27 season.
According to a report by FootballTransfers on Sunday, 11 October, 2026, the 19-year-old has attracted attention from several European clubs, with Barcelona adding him to their list of potential transfer targets.
King has emerged as one of the few bright spots for Fulham, who are struggling at the bottom of the Premier League table.
The midfielder has scored two league goals this season, matching his tally from the previous campaign despite the club’s poor results.
His performances have reportedly caught the attention of Manchester United, who have been linked with the England Under-21 international.
However, Barcelona are now monitoring his progress as they consider potential additions for future transfer windows.
According to Spanish publication SPORT, Barcelona sporting director Deco has included King among his targets. Chelsea, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are also reportedly assessing the midfielder’s potential.
King has spent most of his football development at Fulham, joining the club’s academy at the age of eight. He signed his first professional contract in January 2024 and made his senior debut later that year as a substitute in a Carabao Cup victory over Birmingham City.
After making 11 appearances during the 2024-25 campaign, he signed a new four-year contract in July 2025, keeping him at Craven Cottage until 2029.
King has made seven appearances in all competitions this season, recording two goals and one assist.
His continued development could make him an attractive prospect for clubs looking to strengthen their midfield options.
Manchester United’s interest comes amid a difficult campaign under Michael Carrick. The club have struggled for consistency, recording only two victories in eight matches across all competitions after drawing 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Barcelona, by contrast, have enjoyed an impressive start under Hansi Flick, winning their opening nine matches in all competitions and scoring 39 goals.
Fulham’s immediate priority remains improving their league position under manager Alvaro Arbeloa, who is facing mounting pressure following a disappointing run of results.
