Arsenal remain favourites with the betting sites to retain the Premier League title, despite trailing Manchester City in the table.

The reigning Premier League champions moved level on points with Man City on Saturday after coming from behind to beat Leeds at the Emirates Stadium.

However, City restored their three-point advantage on Sunday thanks to a 3-0 win over 10-man Liverpool at Anfield, the club’s first game since being found guilty by an independent commission of all charges related to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules over a nine-season period.

City deny the charges and have launched an appeal, but it’s unclear as to whether there will be a resolution before the end of the season.

Speaking after the Man City’s win over Liverpool, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher offered his thoughts on the Premier League title race amid the aforementioned appeal.

“Manchester City right now are the best team in the league, they’re at the top,” he said. “There’s no way Manchester City can be allowed to win the league this year, if they’re found guilty.

“That cannot happen, the Premier League used the word ‘sham’ about the last eight years, but we didn’t know it at the time, it’s only afterwards that we know it.

“We know it now, we are watching it. That today, what does it mean going forward? This has to be done before the end of the season, there’s no way this can carry on until the end of the season because, as I said, we’re all getting kidded.”

Based on that statement, Carragher can take encouragement from the latest betting odds having Arsenal as favourites to win the title ahead of Man City for a second season in a row.

Interestingly, Arsenal were odds-on favourites when the Premier League announced the guilty verdict last month and bookmakers Betfair have Mikel Arteta’s side at 4/9 to be celebrating once again come May 2027.
