Turkey: Victor Osimhen grabs assists in Galatasaray’s derby win over Kasimpasa

According to a report by Daily Post on Friday October 9, 2026, Victor Osimhen provided an assist on his return from injury as Galatasaray defeated Kasimpasa 3-1 in an Istanbul derby on Friday.

The Nigeria international returned to action after spending approximately one month on the sidelines following an injury sustained during another Istanbul derby against Istanbul Basaksehir.

Osimhen was introduced in the 77th minute, replacing Deniz Gul, and made an immediate impact despite his limited time on the pitch.

The 27-year-old set up Mario Lemina for Galatasaray’s third goal deep into stoppage time, helping his side secure an important victory.

Osimhen’s return will come as a major boost to Galatasaray, particularly with their UEFA Champions League fixture against Barcelona approaching.

The Nigerian striker has enjoyed an impressive campaign, registering six goals and three assists in five Turkish Super Lig appearances this season.

His contributions have underlined his importance to Galatasaray’s attacking strength, with the forward continuing to demonstrate his ability to influence matches through both goalscoring and creativity.

Following his impressive return against Kasimpasa, Osimhen is now expected to start Galatasaray’s Champions League clash against Barcelona next Tuesday.

However, his final involvement will depend on his fitness and the coaching staff’s assessment following his recent injury absence.

Galatasaray will hope to have their prolific striker available as they prepare to face the Spanish giants in what promises to be a significant European test.

The victory over Kasimpasa also lifted Galatasaray to the top of the Turkish Super Lig table, providing another boost to their domestic campaign.

Osimhen’s return and immediate contribution have given the club further encouragement as they look to maintain their momentum in both domestic and European competitions.
