A Texas grocery store erupted in chaos after two men drew their sidearms in the midst of a heated argument.

An unidentified male, 20, and his girlfriend arrived at the Great Wall Supermarket in Houston’s Chinatown area at around 8 pm on Friday night, police told KHOU11.

The couple attempted to walk into the store with their dog when a security guard stopped them.

The security guard told them that the dog was not allowed to join them running errands because of the store’s health policy.

The argument then turned violent when the customer pulled out his gun and started firing bullets at the security man, who drew his sidearm in response, returning fire.

A witness from a store next to the supermarket told KHOU 11 she could overhear a brief argument before hearing five to six loud gunshots.

Lieutenant Larry Crowson from the Houston Police Department arrived at the scene after being called for a reported disturbance at the store, when he suddenly heard gunfire.

The customer reportedly tried to escape the scene but was chased down by officers.

Both men were then brought to a hospital as they were in critical condition from gunshot wounds. The two underwent surgery Friday night, according to KHOU11.

The dog and the unidentified male’s girlfriend were unharmed, according to officers, and stayed for questioning after the incident.

The HPD is currently analyzing surveillance video to further investigate the incident.

The Daily Mail contacted Great Wall supermarket and the Houston Police Department for more information.
