Telangana screens 1.49 crore people for NCDs, identifies 18 lakh with hypertension, nine lakh with diabetes

Telangana has screened approximately 1.49 crore people for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), identifying around 18 lakh people with hypertension and more than nine lakh with diabetes, said Health Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu on Saturday.Speaking at the 7th edition of the International Conference on Lifestyle Medicine (ISLMCON 2026) in Hyderabad, Ms. Chongthu highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare and addressing lifestyle-related risk factors to tackle the growing burden of non-communicable diseases.
