Emma and Josh are two of the three new hosts given the unenviable task of replacing stalwarts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

The reaction to them has been mixed, with Emma generally praised while Josh and Johannes Radebe have found it harder to impress. One big Strictly tradition is for the presenters to join the judges and the professional dancers for a choreographed routine on the opening weekend.

Emma and Josh found themselves taking part for the first time, and Emma chatted about the experience on her BBC Radio 2 show with Strictly legend Anton Du Beke. Talk turned to how the new presenters performed, and Emma "glossed over" a joke by Anton about the event.

The Voice presenter admitted she had "the time of my life", adding that she felt they were starring in a movie.

She said: "I'm a newbie, right. I absolutely had the time of my life, but talk about choreography. I felt like I was in a movie. When I watched it back I thought it was like a scene from Grease or West Side Story. It's amazing."

Anton then jumped in to ask: "What character would Josh have played?" Emma laughed and said: "I don't know," before she swiftly moved the conversation on.

The Strictly judge, who thought Josh "danced amazingly", said: "Glad you glossed over that."

Speaking on the weekend the dance aired (September 19), Emma then admitted she kept making the same mistake during the dance. The 50-year-old revealed she was struggling to keep her footing in the heels she was wearing.

Emma said: "How many times did I trip over?" Anton responded: "Three or four, if I'm being generous. Oh, we're going to go again. Why is that? She's forgotten how to walk."

The presenter took the comment in good heart, joking: "She's fallen down the stairs in heels again, so I did trip over quite a few times."

Meanwhile, Emma has admitted that she collapsed during filming and was rushed to A&E. She shared details of the unexpected incident during a chat with Tom Allen on his latest Pottering podcast.

Emma revealed that her fascination with medicine was influenced by her mother, who worked for the NHS. She confessed that she had always envisaged herself potentially working in a hospital setting and trained as a maternity care assistant while filming Emma Willis: Delivering Babies, which aired in 2018.

However, despite being at ease around medical procedures, Emma conceded there was one instance when it all became overwhelming.

One day, she was asked to observe a post-birth repair in theatre. Emma remembered being eager to witness the procedure as it was something she had not seen before.

But as she observed, she started feeling progressively unwell. She began to feel light-headed and informed a staff member: "Oh, I'm not sure. I don't feel okay."

Strictly Come Dancing returns tonight (Saturday, October 10) from 6.15pm to 8.35pm on BBC One.
