Simba end long wait to beat Yanga in league derby

Dar es Salaam. Simba ended their three-and-a-half-year wait for a Mainland Premier League victory over arch-rivals Young Africans (Yanga) with a 2-1 comeback win in Saturday’s Kariakoo Derby at Uhuru Stadium, moving three points clear at the top of the 2026/2027 standings.

Second-half goals from Neo Maema and Elie Mpanzu overturned Peter Shalulile’s early opener to hand Simba their first league derby victory since April 16, 2023.
