Sheriff’s office enacts curfew for Santa Rosa County as post-Isaias cleanup operations continue

SANTA ROSA, Fla. (WMBB) — Law enforcement enacted a curfew for Santa Rosa County Saturday afternoon as crews continue operations after Hurricane Isaias ripped through the Panhandle.

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office has enacted a curfew from dusk until dawn until further notice. Employees who need to travel to and from work during curfew may do so.

According to county officials, Santa Rosa County Public Works crews, along with additional teams including multiple National Guard units, began cut-and-toss operations after winds subsided enough for crews to safely begin working.

Officials said most of the damage appeared to be limited to trees, fences, sheds, and some roof damage; however, assessments are ongoing as of this report.

Officials asked residents to stay off the roads as much as possible to allow crews to continue clearing roadways.

The county said its priority is to open critical infrastructure and ensure emergency responders can get through. From there, crews will work through arterial roadways and subdivisions.

Officials encourage residents with questions to call the Santa Rosa County Citizen Information Line at 850-983-INFO (4636). Do not call 911 to report fallen trees or power lines.

Residents can report property damage through the Santa Rosa County Property Appraiser’s website.
