Saudi Arabia suspends operations at Riyadh airport after attack
Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was targeted in an attack on Saturday afternoon, leaving several people injured, the Saudi Civil Aviation Authority said.
The GACA said airport operations had been suspended temporarily while officials assessed the damage and checked the safety of airport facilities in co-ordination with the relevant authorities. The number of injured people was still being established.
The authority said further updates would be issued later, adding that the incident came amid continued attacks targeting civil aviation facilities in Saudi Arabia.
King Khalid International Airport urged passengers to contact their airlines directly and check their flight status before travelling to the airport.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry also advised citizens whose flights had been disrupted or who could not reach their destinations because of cancelled or delayed services to the airport to contact Saudi missions in the countries where they were staying. The missions would provide assistance and the necessary guidance.
