Tennis legend Serena Williams has been immortalized as a Barbie which honors her 2005 Australian Open win.

Williams wore a bright green and white top with a unique cutout and mesh details paired with a white pleated skirt and matching sweatbands.

Serena’s a Barbie! A new Barbie of Serena Williams at the 2005 Australian Open is to be released this week

The Barbie has been released ahead of International Day Of The Girl this week.

In her semi-final matching against Maria Sharapova Williams saved match points to eventually win 2-6, 7-5, 8-6, before going on to beat Lindsay Davenport 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 in the final.

Williams told Today: ‘That slam meant so much to me, I was able to come back from so many downs, and even in the finals of that match, I was down so much.

‘But I was somehow able to never give up. So when I’m playing with my daughters, I always want (to teach) them to never give up.

‘When we were thinking of different outfits, we kept going back and forth, and that one just kept standing out.’

Out soon: The doll is being released to celebrate International Day Of The Girl

Williams continued: ‘The colours were really fantastic on it, as well. We thought that that also told a really good story.’

Barbie said the doll celebrates the sports star as a ‘tennis legend and global icon whose influence extends far beyond the court’.

Nathan Baynard, vice president and head, Barbie, Mattel, said: ‘As we celebrate International Day Of The Girl, Barbie is proud to honor Serena Williams.

‘Barbie has always inspired girls to believe they can be anything, from the sports stadium to the fashion runway to the boardroom. Serena Williams embodies that message through her extraordinary achievements as an athlete, entrepreneur, and advocate for equality.

‘By honouring her with a Barbie Signature doll, we’re celebrating a barrier-breaking icon whose legacy empowers fans everywhere to dream big and embrace their own potential.’

New priorities: Williams has said her priorities are now her daughters and business ventures over Tennis

The product is the second collaboration between Barbie and Williams this year, with a doll of the star previously released as part of International Women’s Day.

Williams, who made the shock decision to come out of retirement this year, reiterated that her daughters Olympia and Adira are her priority as are her business investments.

She told Today: ‘My main career is investing, so my tennis career is so little. I’m not playing anymore this year.

‘If I play next year, it’ll be so very few tournaments. Because I am a full-time mom, and that’s my main goal.

‘That’s what I want to do with them right now. Nothing trumps being with them.’
