Ronen Rubinstein Shares What He’d Like to Explore on ‘9-1-1: Nashville’
0Ronen Rubinstein as T.K. and Rafael Silva as Carlos — ‘9-1-1′ Lone Star’ Season – Kevin Estrada/FoxRashad Raisani, who is the showrunner on 9-1-1: Nashville and held the same role on 9-1-1: Lone Star, has made it clear he wants to bring the characters from the latter to the former. In fact, he told us after the Season 1 finale that he had a plan to bring in Ronen Rubinstein (T.K.) and Rafael Silva (Carlos). So, when TV Insider caught up with Rubinstein to discuss his new series, S.W.A.T. Exiles, we, of course, had to ask him about the chances of seeing him on the newest spinoff in the franchise.
“All of us want to make it work,” he assured us.
As for what he’d like to see, “I would always love to explore more of T.K. I think there was so much more story to explore with him, and Rashad has voiced this as well. I really, really want to see how he’s doing as a stay-at-home dad, and I can’t imagine that’s easy,” he shared. “And I personally now know what it’s like having a little one at home, and it’s hard. And when your true calling is saving lives and being a first responder, how is he going to navigate that? And I would be surprised if we didn’t explore that, if I was to ever come back to 9-1-1: Nashville.”
9-1-1: Lone Star ended with T.K. and his husband Carlos adopting the former’s half-brother with his stepfather (Henry Ian Cusick) in prison for tax evasion and wire fraud. The finale’s five-month time jump revealed that T.K. became a stay-at-home dad.
Raisani previously told us a way he envisioned bringing in the fan-favorite couple: “This is just [me thinking], Carlos coming in as a Texas Ranger and T.K. with him just visiting town because Carlos is consulting on a case. It’s probably the easiest way for us to have it be organic. But I would love [if] we could maybe have the rest of the crew come and work a fire together or something like that. If it feels organic, then we will find a way to make it organic. So I’m open to all possibilities, put it that way.”
