Ronaldo wins Al Nassr fans’ hearts with post-match scarf gesture
Cristiano Ronaldo strengthened his bond with Al Nassr supporters after wearing the club’s scarf during the team’s celebrations following a 3-0 victory over Al-Diriyah in the Roshn Saudi League.
The match took place on Friday evening at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, with the result coming in the eighth round of the competition. Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, adding another important contribution to an impressive performance on the pitch.
The goal came after France winger Kingsley Coman struck a powerful effort that was saved by goalkeeper Waleed Abdullah. The ball fell to Ronaldo in front of an unguarded net, allowing the Al Nassr captain to finish from close range.
However, it was the Portuguese forward’s actions after the final whistle that attracted the greatest attention. Before the players began celebrating the victory with supporters inside Al-Awwal Park, Ronaldo picked up an Al Nassr scarf from the pitch and placed it around his neck.
The gesture was warmly received by the club’s fans, who praised the moment across social media. Many viewed it as a sign of the strong relationship between Ronaldo and the Al Nassr support.
Al Nassr also highlighted the incident by publishing a video on its official account on X. The club accompanied the footage with the message: “The colours of the greatest entity are worn only by the great.”
The video showed Ronaldo celebrating alongside his team-mates and the supporters after the comprehensive win.
The connection between the player and the fans had already been evident before kick-off. Al Nassr supporters chanted Ronaldo’s name and raised a banner in his support ahead of the match.
Their backing came after the recent dispute between Ronaldo and his manager, Jorge Jesus, in the Portugal national team. Despite that situation, the supporters made their support for the Al Nassr captain clear before the game began.
Ronaldo’s goal and his later celebration ensured he played a central role in the evening, both during the match and in the scenes that followed Al Nassr’s victory.
