Prince Harry quietly reunites with unexpected family member
LEAVE A COMMENT Prince Harry had a quiet reunion with one of his beloved family members on Friday.
HELLO! revealed that the Prince enjoyed a "guy's night out" on Friday evening with his pals, attending a rugby match between Leicester Tigers and Gloucester Rugby at Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium in Leicester.
Now, HELLO! Can confirm that the outing saw the Duke of Sussex reunite with his cousin George McCorquodale, the son of his mother Princess Diana's sister, Sarah McCorquodale.
The pair have remained close throughout all the turbulence following the Duke's exit from the UK and royal life in 2020.
The pair were born just two months apart and wo grew up spending considerable time together at family gatherings. Harry's bond with the Spencer side of the family has remained strong. George and his siblings, Celia and Emily, maintain close ties with Harry.
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle attended the wedding of Georgeβs sister, Celia McCorquodale, in 2018 shortly after their own royal wedding.
George and other members of the Spencer family have also routinely supported Harry at major UK events. In 2024, Lady Sarah and Charles Spencer attended the Invictus Games 10th Anniversary Service at St Paul's Cathedral in London.
George is the first family member the Duke has publicly united with since landing in the UK in August.
For the occasion, King Charles' younger son was dressed down, wearing blue jeans and a black puffer jacket for the match, where he was photographed in the stands with a drink, seemingly a beer, in hand.
While his older brother, Prince William, is an avid football fan, the Duke prefers rugby. A source has told HELLO!: "For Harry it's all about rugby over football."
Harry previously served as patron of the Rugby Football Union and Rugby Football League, roles his sister-in-law, the Princess of Wales, has since taken over following the Duke's departure from the UK.
Our source added: "Harry says Archie and Lilli support Northampton and heβs looking forward to the day that he can take them to a match once his security situation is sorted. He says it's one hurdle at a time."
The Duke and Duchess lost their taxpayer-funded security when they stepped back from royal duties in 2020.
