Now he’s waiting to learn his next teamPatrick Mahomes’ home is impressive from the ground, but an airplane view puts its scale into perspective. A fan’s video shared on social media captures the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s sprawling mansion, large swimming pool and private football field surrounded by trees. The field immediately catches the eye, giving the NFL star’s backyard the appearance of a personal sports retreat.

The project began in September 2020, when Mahomes bought an approximately eight-acre parcel in Belton, Missouri, near Kansas City. The land was listed for $400,000, according to Architectural Digest, which noted that the final purchase price was not disclosed in the records it reviewed. That figure concerns the land alone; the couple’s total construction bill has not been publicly confirmed. The custom home was completed in 2023.

The backyard’s standout feature is a 50-yard football field, rather than a full-length NFL field. Published coverage describes personalized markings, although the lettering is not visible in this particular clip. The grounds also include a private par-3 golf hole and a pond, bringing football, golf and relaxation together just steps from the house. Those outdoor features were already drawing attention when aerial photographs circulated in July 2023.

The pool adds another layer of luxury, with a swim-up bar and a nearby firepit reported by The Kansas City Star. One less obvious feature is inside: a large aquarium shown in Netflix’s Quarterback documentary series. While the aerial footage reveals the estate’s layout, there is no verified public breakdown identifying its most expensive amenity, and a reliable bedroom count for this particular residence remains unconfirmed.

The property is also a family home for Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, who have three children: Sterling Skye, born in February 2021; Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, born in November 2022; and Golden Raye, born in January 2025. The house was finished before Golden’s arrival, making it the setting for another chapter in their growing family’s life.

What makes the video memorable is seeing everything together: the broad roofline, the pool, the greenery and a football field in the backyard. Mahomes built a residence with space for his family and the sports he loves. From an airplane window, the sheer ambition of that project becomes much easier to appreciate.
