MUN 1-1 TOT: Match Review And Updated English Premier League Table

According to a report by BBC Sport on Saturday, October 10, 2026, Tottenham Hotspur snatched a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford, extending the Red Devils’ winless run in domestic competitions to five matches.

Despite arriving at Old Trafford bottom of the Premier League table, Tottenham made a positive start and created several promising opportunities. Manchester United struggled to contain the visitors’ movement and intensity in midfield during the opening stages.

United goalkeeper Senne Lammens played a pass that put Kobbie Mainoo under pressure, allowing Lucas Bergvall to release Dominic Solanke. The Tottenham striker raced towards goal but was denied by Lammens, who made an important save to prevent the visitors from taking an early lead.

Tottenham continued to threaten, with Savio pulling the ball back into the penalty area for Mohammed Kudus. However, the Ghanaian midfielder failed to hit the target as Spurs struggled to convert their promising attacking moves into goals.

Manchester United gradually grew into the contest and began creating chances of their own. A quick counter-attack sent Bryan Mbeumo forward before the Cameroon international picked out Amad Diallo, whose effort was comfortably saved by Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky.

After the restart, Tottenham maintained their attacking intent, with Savio continuing to play an important role in creating opportunities. Solanke squandered another promising chance by sending his effort over the crossbar, leaving the visitors frustrated by their inability to make their dominance count.

United eventually took advantage of Tottenham’s wastefulness with just over 15 minutes remaining. Matheus Cunha worked his way into the penalty area before finding Mbeumo, who controlled the ball superbly, turned and fired into the far corner to put the hosts ahead.

Tottenham’s chances of recovering suffered another setback five minutes later when Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off following a series of aggressive challenges and a subsequent confrontation with Luke Shaw.

However, United failed to capitalise on their numerical advantage and secure all three points. Tottenham continued to push forward and were rewarded deep into stoppage time.

Sandro Tonali delivered a cross into the penalty area, where Solanke battled with Lisandro Martinez before directing a header into the bottom corner to rescue a point for the visitors.

The late equaliser lifted Tottenham off the bottom of the Premier League standings, while Manchester United were left frustrated after failing to protect their lead despite having an extra player for the closing stages.

The result extended United’s winless domestic run to five matches and marked another disappointing home performance for the Red Devils. Tottenham, meanwhile, earned a valuable point after scoring their first away goal of the Premier League season, despite finishing the match with ten men.
