Meet 103 Year Old Agnes Addo Kufuor, Who’s A Living Link To Asante Royal History
At an age when many people have become part of history, Nana Agnes Addo Kufuor, also known as Oheneyere Akua Durowaa, remains a living connection to Ghana’s royal heritage and the memories of generations past.
Born into the prominent Kufuor family, she is the elder sister of former President John Agyekum Kufuor and the widow of the late Asantehene, Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh II.
Her marriage to the Asantehene placed her within the royal household of the Asante Kingdom, giving her a special place in the history of one of Ghana’s most respected traditional institutions.
Beyond her royal connection, Nana Agnes has also been part of the history of St. Anne’s Anglican Church at Ashtown, Kumasi.
In July 2026, at the remarkable age of 103, the church honoured her during its 95th-anniversary celebration as its only surviving founding member.
Think about that for a moment: a woman who has lived through more than a century of change, witnessed generations come and go, and carries memories stretching back to a very different Ghana.
Nana Agnes Addo Kufuor is more than a centenarian. She is a living link between Asante royal history, Ghana’s political heritage and the enduring story of a church community.
May her life continue to be celebrated, and may her years be filled with peace, dignity and good health.
