The Black Starlets of Ghana began their campaign at the WAFU-B U-17 Championship with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Togo at the Stade du 4 Août in Ouagadougou on Saturday.

David Kwarteng scored the decisive goal in the seventh minute, giving coach Kassim Mingle’s side an early advantage in the epic encounter.

The early goal set the tone for an entertaining fixture, with both teams producing an exciting display throughout the game as they battled for control.

Togo, on the other hand, also pushed to find an equaliser, but Ghana held their ground and showed enough composure to preserve their lead until the final whistle.

The victory gives the Black Starlets three valuable points as they seek to make progress in the competition and build momentum for the remaining group matches.

The Black Starlets will return to action on October 13 when they face Benin in their second group game, hoping to maintain their winning start to the tournament.
