Man shot after firing at officers, MPD says
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man who allegedly shot at police is in critical condition after officers fired back during a foot pursuit Friday night, Memphis Police said.
Officers were on a routine patrol in the 2700 block of Kimball Avenue near Lamar at 5:41 p.m. when police say they saw a man loitering.
According to MPD, the man ran away and fired several shots at them. Two officers discharged their weapons during the pursuit.
The man ran to the rear of a house on Burns Avenue. Officers found him injured by gunfire and aided him. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is now handling the case, MPD said.
No officers were listed as injured in the incident.
