Karachi Port further improves its Global Connectivity Index
Karachi Port is charting new territory in global maritime trade, building on its historic achievement earlier this year, the port’s Port Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (PLSCI) has surged to an unprecedented 356.8 in Q3 2026, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
This back-to-back growth is no coincidence; it reflects upgraded infrastructure, sharper operational efficiency, and rising mainline transshipment demand, strengthening Karachi Port’s global connectivity.
Earlier, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Chaudhry said that stronger maritime connectivity could support trade flows, improve access to international markets and enable Pakistani businesses to connect more efficiently with global supply chains.
The minister said the government was working to improve port services, facilitate shipping activity and create an environment conducive to trade and investment.
He added that ports were being positioned to play a greater role in international trade and regional connectivity, while improved connectivity at Karachi Port would help strengthen Pakistan’s links with global markets.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said the latest PLSCI and LSCI figures should be viewed in the broader context of efforts to modernize the maritime sector and improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the country’s ports.
He said the government would continue working with port authorities, shipping lines and other stakeholders to further strengthen Pakistan’s maritime links.
The minister described the latest figures as representing “stronger global links, more trade opportunities and a more connected Pakistan.”
