I’ve Handed Over Management Of Dzata Cement To My Daughter By Ibrahim Mahama

Businessman Ibrahim Mahama has revealed that he handed over the day-to-day management of Dzata Cement to his daughter and has not been involved in the company’s operations for the past three years.GHOne TV / Starr FM news alert (9 October 2026); YEN.com.gh, Shore.Africa and related reports on Dzata Cement’s fifth anniversary and leadership transition.

Speaking in comments reported on Friday, 9 October 2026, the business mogul said: “I’ve handed over management of Dzata Cement to my daughter. I haven’t been involved for the past 3 years.”

His daughter, Nafisa Mahama (also known as Nafi), serves as Managing Director of the Tema-based cement manufacturing company. Dzata Cement is wholly Ghanaian-owned and was established by Ibrahim Mahama, who remains the sole shareholder and group chief executive of Dzata Holdings.

The statement comes as the company marked its fifth anniversary. At the anniversary celebration held at the plant in Tema, Mahama explained that he stepped back from daily executive duties to give younger leaders the opportunity to gain experience and take responsibility.

“We won’t live forever. So sometimes we should give the children the opportunity to be able to take that risk of managing,” he said.

Under Nafisa Mahama’s leadership, the company has continued operations and recently approved a one-time 50 per cent bonus for all workers in appreciation of their dedication over the past five years. Management has also outlined plans to strengthen operations, maintain product quality, expand capacity and invest further in staff.

Dzata Cement operates on a 10-acre site near Tema Port with an investment of more than $100 million. The plant uses German machinery and has the capacity to produce tens of thousands of bags daily. The company aims to increase output and become a major player in Ghana’s cement market by 2030.

Ibrahim Mahama’s decision to transfer operational control reflects a deliberate succession plan within his business interests, allowing the next generation to take charge while he focuses on broader group strategy.
